This is an rpg game. Players need to take on the role of the protagonist iris, interact with the characters in the game and eventually untie the knots in their hearts. This game is based on my childhood experiences. Such painful memories have accompanied me for a long time. As I grow up, such things are not uncommon. Although I am often advised that this is an inevitable part of life, I think it takes time to console oneself when some mistakes occur and important opportunities or family and friends are lost. More importantly, it is about forgiving oneself. I have also been thinking about the so-called tempering needed for growth, so I hope to express myself through this game. After all, games are actually a very good way to guide, aren't they?
IRIS is a narrative-driven pixel RPG developed independently with a focus on psychological storytelling. The project centers around a detective trapped in a recurring nightmare, investigating the mysterious disappearance of a girl named lily. As the player navigates fragmented memories and symbolic characters. they gradually uncover the emotional and psychological layers behind the case, ultimately confronting the detective’s own guilt and unresolved past.
Symbolic Narrative Design: Each character and environment in the dream represents a part of the protagonist’s subconscious and emotional trauma. Pixel Art Style: Hand-crafted retro visuals and atmospheric sound design evoke a melancholic and immersive experience.
Engine: Built using Unity, customized for branching logic and symbolic environment interaction.
IRIS is not just a mystery to be solved, but an emotional journey that explores memory, regret, and the cost of avoidance. It invites players to look inward, even when the answers are difficult to face.
